FUORI CONCORSO - THE SHOW OUTSIDE THE SHOW
“I often got goosebumps that weekend,” says Italian fashion entrepreneur, car collector and event organiser Guglielmo Miani. His grandfather, Guglielmo Miani Sr., set up his tailoring business in the early 1920s and dressed an in-the-know clientele of Milan’s movers and shakers, from artists to literates, from politicians to entrepreneurs. His Concept Boutique on the prestigious Via Monte Napoleone dazed with an unmatched selection of fabrics imported from all corners of the globe, including the elusive Vicuna, the most precious fabric of them all. In his orbit were stars such as Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Totò, Fausto Coppi, Wal ter Chiari, Gino Bramieri and Giuseppe Capogrossi, to name just a few. In 1973, Guglielmo Sr’s son, Riccardo, took the reins of the family business that was by then already known by its current name, Larusmiani. Twenty years ago, the stage was set for Guglielmo to become the third generation managing the menswear pow erhouse and to stamp his own mark on a century-old Milan institution. Guglielmo now runs what is arguably the most famous high-fashion showroom in the automotive world. Every month, car spotters flock to his floor-to-ceiling boutique window to take in the sight of another dramatic piece of motoring history. A seemingly endless conveyor belt of fabulous classics found a welcoming pied-a-terre in the Lombard capital…
