GREEN SEASON

ALFETTA GT

The emergence of the first sprouts from the ground signal the beginning of our re-acquaintance with natural colours after long months of staring at various shades of grey and green takes the honours of being the first one across the line.

To honour the colour of spring, we took Fabian Korner’s verde pino Alfetta GT for a spin through the scenic hills of Tuscany, taking in the sights, sounds and fragrances of this much loved land. Renaissance hails from this region and perhaps the vibrancy of these green fields and woods provided some of the fuel for that state of mind. There is an ever present sense of beauty at every turn. The wedge shaped Alfa feels right at home in this landscape and its nimble handling comes in very handy on the narrow side roads, where you honk before the many blind turns, in the hope that someone on the other end actually pays attention - they sometimes do.

Even though it made its debut over 50 years ago, the Alfetta is still a youngtimer and, as such, its prices are still within reach of most classic car enthusiasts, although perhaps not for too long, if we only look at the market evolution over the past five years or so. It will always be a car that makes you feel young. A design icon. A lovely car to be in.

It was Alfa Revival Cup time and Mugello was alive with the sound of the Bialbero again. OKP Racing team was back in force, with the return of the white GTAm fielded by Mathias Korber and Fabian Korber, as well as Christian Kundrak’s white GTA as well as Roberto Restelli’s Alfa Delta new ride, his cappuccino coloured GTAm. The racing proved as action packed as ever, with our boys doing rather well this time around, although the race win eluded all of them in the end.

The Alfetta GT proved itself as a perfect addition to the racing weekend, allowing Fabian to gain some perspective in between the timed sessions. And it also added an extra touch of beauty to the whole experience. After all, this marriage of beauty and performance is what makes an Alfa experience quite so special.
